Password Manager

An encrypted vault that generates and stores a different password for every account.

What Password Manager means

A password manager removes the need to remember or reuse credentials. Business versions add shared vaults for team credentials, visibility of who has access to what, and clean handover when someone leaves. Most also warn you when a stored password appears in a known breach.

Why Password Manager matters for small businesses and nonprofits

Shared spreadsheets and sticky notes are still common in small organisations, and both make departures messy and audits impossible. A managed vault is inexpensive and solves the reuse problem that credential stuffing depends on.

What to do about Password Manager

Three steps to deal with Password Manager

  • Deploy one for the whole team rather than leaving it to individuals
  • Use shared vaults for team accounts so nothing lives in one person's head
  • Protect the vault itself with a hardware key or passkey
