Product Design

Deciding What To Build Before You Build It

What is Product Design?

Product design decides what to build and for whom, before anyone writes code. Skipping it is the most expensive shortcut in software.

Product design covers discovery, problem definition, prototyping and validation. The goal is to learn whether an idea solves a real problem while it is still cheap to change your mind. For a small organisation this usually means a few days of structured work and a clickable prototype, not a six month research programme.

How we use Product Design

How Clearwell Digital uses Product Design

What you get with Product Design

  • A written problem definition everyone involved agrees on
  • A clickable prototype tested with real users
  • A prioritised scope with a clear first release
  • A list of what was deliberately deferred, and why

About to build something significant?

Spend a few days on design first. We will show you what that changes before the development budget is committed.
